{Proverbs 31} Bible Study Review, Goals, & Expectations

I finally finished my summer bible study by www.goodmorninggirls.com and www.womenlivingwell.com of the {Proverbs 31} woman!  Wow, this is my absolute favorite topic and the study completely humbled and challenged me! I am very far from perfect and I don’t strive to make people think that.  My goal is to let my light shine bright enough that others notice and want that for themselves! Courtney, the author of the study, always says “WHO YOU ARE AT HOME IS WHO YOU REALLY ARE.”  This can definitely be a scary statement at times.  There are days that I come home and want to veg out in front of the t.v., order out dinner (which we have been doing a lot since school started back up/volleyball season began), surf the net, etc…and I do just that some days. There are times when I do not handle confrontation the way God would want me to. There are times when I should’ve given comfort and I didn’t. Like I said, I am a big work in progress… That’s why when I chose to study the Bible it helps me tremendously! Keeping myself in God’s Word keeps some inspiration fresh in my mind and heart. Being a working wife and mother is extremely difficult at times, but studying the Proverbs 31 woman totally gave me some expectations to live up to!  I need to have a “God conscienceness” about me that consistently pushes me to pursue pleasing God.  It is hard to not get sucked into the ways of this world and be focused on opinions other than our Heavenly Father’s.  Faith needs to be my beauty secret…I would be lying if I said I hate shopping and putting outfits together these days… But I need to strive to allow people to notice the happiness of God within me before they tell me that my boots are cute. haha  Like verse 30 of Proverbs 31 says, “Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”  Who do we get our praise from???  Our husbands and children! Isn’t that what all wives and mothers yearn for? It surely is a big goal for me!

Remember: This may not be the season in your life that you hear the praises, but I promise you that they will come if you are diligent! Sometimes it may feel as though your hard work is all for nothing or that no one notices it, I guarantee you that even if things are going unnoticed here on Earth, God knows and will always comfort and encourage you! At times you may feel like your good intentions get judged and others find fault in your words or deeds… Believe me, I know how frustrating this can be, but rest assured that the Lord is the only other one who truly knows our hearts… He knows we are learning and He is aware of the goals we are striving for.

Show more kindness.

  • “A kindhearted woman gains respect…” -Proverbs 11:16
  • “Make sure that nobody pays back wrong for wrong, but always try to be kind to each other and to everyone else.” -1Thessalonians 5:15-16

Be thankful.

  • “Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” -1Thessalonians 5:16-17
  • “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6

Strengthen my character.

  • “For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness, and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” 2Peter 1:5-8
  • “…we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.  And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.” Romans 5:3-5
