{Marriage Monday} Keeping the spark!

Before the baby comes in the baby carriage, marriage seems very easy and exciting. Life is usually fun and flexible. Then enter the bundle of joy… A complete blessing from God, but is also an attention grabber. Baby takes most of the parents’ time and energy, then once there is a break the last thing you want to even think about is cuddling and whispering soft nothings in the other’s ear. Life isn’t always rainbows and sunshine, it is sometimes spit up and dirty diapers.

Here are my 5 tips on how to keep the spark alive after baby:

1. Love Notes: Even if spare time is non-existent, find a second to leave a note or a text for your spouse to let them know they are still on your mind. {I use an “I love you because” board I made from items at Hobby Lobby}

2. Adult Conversation: Steal a moment to talk about your days, current events, etc.. This keeps you remembering how your relationship blossomed to begin with.

3. Small Surprises: Doesn’t everyone love surprises??? This can be your spouse’s favorite candy bar, soda, movie, etc… It is a very small gesture that will bring a smile to their day and show them you care.

4. Get Away: Even if it is going to the grocery store… You need alone time together without your little one so you can keep your marriage from becoming stale. {I believe that having at least one hobby you can do together is a great way to spend time with one another. My hubby and I enjoy playing golf!}

5. Pray: Make a routine to pray for your spouse. Whether it is daily or weekly, keep them on your prayer list. I would also suggest that you pray together! Praying as a couple will not only strengthen your relationship with each other, but will strengthen your relationship with the Lord!

God Bless You & Your Marriage,
