{Jessica 31} Preparation

Proverbs 31: 10-31 gives us a description of a wife/mother of noble character. I have been inspired to strive to be “Jessica 31,” my version of the Proverbs 31 woman. I have been addictively reading a new book titled “My So-Called Life as a Proverbs 31 Wife” by Sara Horn. I highly recommend this book. It is funny, witty, honest, and very relatable! It has given me the courage I have been seeking to strive to be the wife, mother, and all around woman that God longs for me to be. This book has also made me realize that no one is perfect and to not be so hard on myself. I tend to be a perfectionist and I want to prove to myself and others that I can reach my goals, when in all actuality I only need God’s approval. Reading this book and studying these bible verses have really convicted me to strive to better serve my family. In my last post I wrote about my {summer goals}. All of these goals coincide with being “Jessica 31.” I learned something today while reading… Sara Horn talked about her “ah ha” moment… She shared about how she had burned quesadillas after almost a year of trying to be the Proverbs 31 woman. It was kinda of the straw that broke her confidence in her “Sara 31” journey. She ended up crying sprawled out on her bed. Then she had these thoughts… (I have highlighted what I really relate to.) Her thoughts hit me like a mack truck. I have been preparing to start my journey this summer focusing on how I can get organized, cook, etc… When in all actuality I need to focus on honoring God. When I place him first, the rest will come together. So, my newest goal is to research a good devotional for the wife/mother and start my day with that this summer…then conquer the Martha Stewart within! 🙂
