{Jessica 31} Family Command Center Inspiration

“…she watches over the affairs of her househould…” Proverbs 31:27 {NIV}

With this verse in mind, I am researching a Family Command Center for our household! I can’t “watch over the affairs of  {my} household” without having it organized first! ha! One of my many summer goals this year is to be as organized as I am at work…at home. This and a family binder are my main projects I need to achieve this goal. I have made my mind up of the components I have to have in order to watch over my household affairs correctly.

Family Command Center components:

1. Whiteboard Calendar:  I am making this DIY calendar based on the SAS Designs version .

2. Magnetic Memo Board:  I am ordering 2 10×10(ish) framed memo boards from Chloe Belle’s Etsy Shop. I could DYI this… but it would be about the same amount of $$. So, I decided to try and buy it.

  • My vision right now is that these two memo boards will go either on top, on the right side, or on bottom of the calendar… Once I get them, then I will decide. lol
  • Below is an example of Chloe’s work.  I haven’t decided on a fabric yet.  I just know I will have dark brown frames to match the calendar frame.
3. Dry Erase Weekly Menu: Another summer goal is to follow Proverbs 31:15 “…she provides food for her family…”  Soooo… I will be planning {hopefully monthly} and writing down the week’s menu on something like this.  I came across this DIY idea from The Happy Scraps Blog
4. Rail/Bucket Wall Organizer:  I am in love with EVERYTHING from Ikea. The only down side is that some of the stuff you can’t order online… I found this idea with the rail and buckets from Ikea, but I am currently trying to find my own way to make this happen, since I can’t actually order it online {& the closest Ikea store is in another state… *tear*}
5. Mail Wall Organizer:  I originally wanted the Pottery Barn organizational system… Until I found out it was $50+ for each piece!?!?!?! So, I am on the hunt for a Pottery Barn-esk mail organizer.  I found this from Ana White, but I’ve never used a saw in my life… So I don’t know how this will work for me.  Even though Proverbs 31:17 says “…she sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks..”  I may have to woman-up and try it… Even if I cut off a limb. lol
These are the main components I am planning to be in my  Family Command Center . I am going to Hobby Lobby this weekend to collect some of these essential ingredients. Below are a few pictures of inspiration from my research.  {The first one is the expensive Pottery Barn FCC… *sigh*}
*I am putting a bench my momma is giving me under my FCC!*
*I am going to incorporate a bible verse {like this one} every week on one of the magnetic memo boards.*
*Cute frames.*
*sigh* Pottery Barn yet again…
*Love how this chalkboard is a different color.*
*Another great idea with the calendar.*

    Hey I saw an idea on pinterest where you use a towel rod and $1 pails you can find at $ tree (just spray paint if they’re not the color you like) and you hang your pails on the towel rod. I, too, was very much in love with the PB organizational items until I saw the price tag! Gasp! Lol I found our mail organizer that has 2 slots and a spot for a label at Gordmans. Organizing is so fun! 🙂
