Dad Day

Happy Father’s Day to the most important guys in my life!
I would like to start by saying… Who can say their dad surfs? Not many…
My father is more than just an adventurous guy…he has been a steady rock at times when I needed stability, a warm embrace when I needed comfort, a healing hand when I needed fixing, and good advice when I most definitely needed guidance!
Without my Dad I know I would not be the musical person I am today. Without my Dad I would still be thinking that the only Toto in the world was Dorothy’s little dog. Without my Dad I would not have anyone to sing with on long road trips…. (We can, without a doubt, rock out to the duet “Make No Mistake, She’s Mine” by Ronnie Milsap and Kenny Rodgers!!!! ha!) Without my dad I wouldn’t have the perfectionist side of my personality…or know what it’s like to be a leader. He shows me what hard work and dedication looks like everyday. I can only hope to possess half of the characteristics he has.
People told this to me while I was dating… “Jess, you cannot think that every guy out there is going to be like your Dad… They are NOT!”
Well, now I can say that I have found the closest match…

My husband is my everything. Without him I couldn’t and wouldn’t survive. He has taught me so much about myself and life. He surpasses everything I think I deserve and what I thought God would send me in a spouse. I feel like together we can really do anything we set our minds to.
When we decided to start a family I had no doubt in my mind how great of a father he would be. I knew he would lead our family to fear the Lord, I knew he would be a wonderful role model, and I knew he would work hard for us because he is a man of integrity and walks securely (Proverbs 10:9). When the Lord blessed us with Rypken 18 months ago, all of my expectations were greatly exceeded!!!
Chris not only works hard to provide for our family, he works hard at being an involved father while still striving to keep the spark in our marriage. He leads by example and inspires me everyday to be a better person. When we face adversity, he is the first one to jump the hurdle and pull us to a resolution.

He is the anchor to our family and the wind in our sails.
I am looking forward to all the memories that await us and thank our Heavenly Father for sending him to me.
